Emergency and trauma care at UCSI Hospital offers a lifeline to patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Staffed by specialists in Emergency Medicine and experienced nurses, we provide high-quality emergency care to both adult and paediatric patients with acute medical conditions, critical injuries or symptoms of something far more serious.

All emergency cases at UCSI Hospital are prioritised. Patients benefit from reduced wait times and dedicated care the moment they come on-site. The emergency section is also strategically located near dedicated laboratory, radiology and pharmacy services, facilitating the prompt diagnosis of conditions upon arrival. This setting also allows specialists to undertake prompt intervention that often results in life-saving outcomes.

Time is on your side

Upon arrival Diagnostic ultrasound scans are performed immediately by an emergency physician and medical officers.
< 20 Minutes The average wait time to see an emergency doctor.
< 1 Hour The average wait time to obtain haematology and clinical chemistry test results.
< 2 Hours The average wait time to obtain blood test results (inclusive of dengue and H1N1 tests).

What to expect when you come to the hospital?

  • An admission kit is available for your use. The kit contains basic toiletries. However, you may carry your own.
  • A set of clothes and slippers to wear upon discharge. The hospital provides you with a gown to wear during your stay.
  • You are not allowed to bring outside medicines. Even your routine medications will be given by the hospital. However, please carry a list of medicines you are taking routinely.
  • A mobile phone with a charger.
  • Insurance documents (claim form and authorisation number).

What not to bring when you come to hospital?

  • Valuables such as jewellery and large amount of cash.
  • Outside food and fruits.

Infection prevention and control

Infection control practices are meticulously followed as we are committed to providing the highest standards of clinical care. Our hospital has an Infectious Disease consultant and nurse, who monitor hospital associated infections and antibiotic usage as per national and internally accepted protocols.

In-Patient Information

  • The unit nurse will welcome you and bring you to your room.
  • Your doctor and nurse will discuss with you a plan of medical care that’s tailored to your medical needs.
  • Nutritional and dietary advice shall be provided if deemed necessary by our medical team.
  • A typical day at the ward starts between 5am and 6am. with bed preparation and cleaning of rooms and common areas. The room is ensured of its cleanliness by our housekeeping team. Meals are served according to schedule. ‘Lights out’ is at 10pm.
  • Your medical consultant will brief you in detail on the surgery procedure.
  • You or a family member will be asked to read, understand and sign a consent form.
  • You will undergo a pre-anaesthesia check by an anaesthetist.
  • You are required to fast the night before your surgery.
  • Your doctor may instruct a bowel preparation prior to surgery.
  • The site of the surgery will be shaved or clipped and marked with a pen, where applicable.
  • Contact lenses, prosthesis, dentures and jewellery should be removed.

Visitation Hours: 10am - 2pm | 5pm - 9pm

After visiting hours, only one visitor is allowed into the general ward. In such a case, you would have to register with the security personnel from 10pm to midnight to collect your visitor pass. The room number you are visiting is stated on your visitor pass.

  • Receiving clear, timely information about our charges, modes of payment and anticipated expenditure for treatment.
  • Being able to make a complaint and receive a response.
  • Having the right to consent or decline to participate in any proposed research, or to withdraw from research at any stage.
  • Privacy during registration, consultation, examination and treatment at our centre.
  • Confidentiality around your information, medical care and treatment processes.
  • Personal safety and reasonable security of property within the confines of our hospital.
  • Non-disclosure of your personal information unless it is with your written consent, or required by law.
